actual self-accountability demands more than acknowledgement of bad judgement or ideas. you have to also take affirmative action to address the terrible things you said and did. you have to do that with no expectations that people you harmed will ever accept or certainly forgive you.

NGL, the discussion about who gets grace and who gets forgiven for being on the wrong side keeps making me think of Gul Dukat's heel-face-heel turn in DS9, especially when nobody (but mostly Kira and Sisko) will give him a parade for no longer being The Worst or As Bad As He Could Have Been.

ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

It's really important that members of the public understand that anything they report to AGs or any other entity that is not their personal attorney, in order to try to hold ICE, etc. accountable

Could be given to Kash Patel and Pam Bondi and/or local police and prosecutors.
AGs have a lot of resources and are in a position to sue the federal government

But they do not represent individuals who are harmed by federal authorities

They also 1) prosecute crimes and 2) hand off information they collect to a) county and b) federal investigators and prosecutors
The Minnesota Attorney General's Office is asking residents to share information about the actions of federal agents in Minnesota, including those from the Department of Homeland Security, that have affected them or someone close to them.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of nearly 100 House Democrats, will announce later today that it's formally endorsing legislation to strip $175 billion from ICE and put it toward affordable housing. www.huffpost.com/entry/doj-fe...

MS NOW: Why haven't you gotten a dozen Dem senators & NYC cops, flown to Minneapolis & said to the guys wearing masks 'We've brought people who know how to operate'

SCHUMER: You're right. We need police officers to tell ICE, 'You don't know what the hell you're doing. You need real police training'

The 'give ice qr codes' thing reminds me of when Sarah Everard was murdered by a real policeman using his real police id to kidnap her, and the police & gvt made out the solution was to have a helpline to check that the person bundling you away was a real policeman (as the murderer was)

we should want to make it undeniable that there is no choice but to end ICE, prosecute its officers for lawbreaking, and fundamentally rethink immigration enforcement.

We need to pick up this Overton Window and throw it as far as we can. Stop waiting for shit to “be popular” and start advocating for what is transparently right.

The GOP has explicitly advocated that the Education Department be abolished for decades, an issue which never polled as well as abolishing ICE does today.

Abolishing the Education Department was part of the GOP's 1984 platform… and Reagan won 49 states.

So HUD just (tried) to change homelessness policy to force people to accept mental health and SUD treatment prior in order to get housing, and now they cut $2B of funding for those services.

So, they want homeless people to die. It is their policy now.

Minneapolis is in a worse state than what the videos convey. I fear people don't grasp just how bad this blitzkrieg against our people is. It's everywhere, all the time, and only the most egregious bits that get reordered at all gain traction.

Chicago’s middle class is getting priced out. But we can build more housing, rein in private equity, and create real stability—if we choose new leadership.

Make a plan to vote by March 17.

Great article. Sadly not surprised right wing commentators erase Ms Good's queerness, or conversely, use it to justify her killing.

It's also disturbing so many progressive commentators prioritise her identity as a mother, cite comments (some dubious) from relatives, yet rarely mention her widow...

Friends, Claudette Colvin—the 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in March 1955 & joined the federal case against bus segregation that went to the Supreme Court — died today at age 86. But there are lots of myths and mis-impressions about her. A short corrective thread:

A group of neighbors and business owners in Edgewater are accusing the city of violating property owners' right to due process, in addition to city and state zoning requirements.
