I know the exact location. But it’s in a strip mall that has expanded and changed over the years so it’s hard to pinpoint what the address was *at* that time compared to now. I’ve gone through owners records of the whole block and I can’t seem to find anything that would fit

Like I don’t have regrets because the book is truly a treasure trove of where I grew up and old friends addresses and it’s really sentimental and cute but I just wish that damn store was listed in it lol

This is very on brand for me and also I’ve thought about this random (possible chain?) store for like 20 years, paged through historical records of businesses at the address, searched newspaper archives of the time period, I’m beginning to think I made it up

You haven’t known insanity until you spend $80 on an old phone book from your hometown on eBay in an attempt to remember the short lived store that you bought an outfit for your first dance at — only to not find the store in the book even though it matches the year you bought the outfit perfectly
