It's the same in Germany. Universities often haven an outright ban on working on anything defense related.
So called "civil clauses". Which is of course a bit silly when you consider dual usage.
So for me its more eye-roll than trigger...

They frame AI as something supernaturally evil, like real-life Satan.

I simply don’t get the panic and pessimism about AI in animation and VFX.
Artforms that have always been deeply entangled with technology, and whose aesthetics have been shaped by it for over a century.
I get the copyright aspect, but that's pretty much it.
There always has been bad art.
