The winds have been carving some amazing formations into the snow along the highway. For size reference, these drifts are at least as tall as me.

1/2 I had a bunch of orphan blocks left over from my last project when I realized I didn't have enough of a couple fabrics. I had two sizes of blocks and a bunch of four inch squares as well. I used the ends of all the fabrics with the blocks and incorporated them into rows in a freestyle pattern.

Completed this quilt top yesterday. Thanks to the quilting community here for your suggestions on salvaging this when I was unhappy with the layout. I ended up going with blue sashing, not because I thot it was best, but mostly because that's the only solid I had enough of (yes, I did the math!).

I spent the last hour fixing up less than perfect points on my sashing strips. It is fiddly unnecessary work, but it is something completely in my control. Maybe that's all that matters right now.

My New Year's resolution was going to be "don't wear sweatpants to the grocery store anymore" but I think I need to change that to "don't cut into fabric to piece a quilt top unless you know you have enough".

I just finished "Theo of Golden". I was expecting great things. It's a nice gentle story with some good language and moments of humour. Overall, it's not a favourite read of mine. Be honest, what are your thoughts, and why?
