I agree! I know Hitler and his gang actually looked to the US for examples and (monetary) help. Think of Lindbergh and Ford. He admired the racist achievements (Jim Crow, KKK). In many ways, Amerikkka has always been a frontrunner when it comes to extreme rightwing fascist tendencies.

If you ever wondered why the Germans let Hitler take control, even though Germany used to be a democracy, and plenty of people saw where things were going... now you have your answer.

The real - and really difficult - problem is: what can anyone do? How do you oppose a dictatorship without going full in? Meaning, with violence. If you don't, the dictatorship will always trump (no pun intended) your move - they have a monopoly on violence, the step that overrides every other step.

Seriously, when you read this, you must understand that there is no way to still have an adult conversation with these people. That time has passed. No factual arguments will persuade Trumpists, they are completely over in cuckoo land. Which must be pretty scary for most Americans right now.

Any moment now, they will stop showing up for these kinds of meetings. After all, who's gonna make 'em?

All this travesty is telling me is, Americans will let their country slip further and further into dictatorship, all the while thinking they will do something to counter that any moment now. Waiting for the right moment. Still waiting... Darn, now there's another Auschwitz! Who would've thought?

Hahaha! Looking at the other comments now. I was thinking exactly what others are saying: they look fat!

Burning down the house of a judge, with people still in it.
Isn't it about time Americans started to respond a little tougher to what is going on in their country? I mean, what the hell are y'all waiting for? A new Auschwitz?

One of my life goals is to use "ipso facto" in a sentence, without it sounding forced, at least once.

At some point, a confrontation like this will go sideways.
And with all of them carrying guns, something is bound to get really messy.

The Netherlands: expecting drones soon, people are aware, some on edge. I generally sense a feeling of, we have to take these escalations seriously, we cannot ignore, and we shouldn't downplay them, it's part of hybrid warfare. And we will support Ukraine even more.

Denmark's military intelligence reports that Russian naval forces have aimed weapons at Danish warships and helicopters, disrupted navigation systems in key maritime straits, and even sailed collision courses, all clear provocations.

Exactly this! Push a little harder, for crying out loud!

If they claim they haven't heard the quote, play it for them and ask for a response.

If they claim it's being taken out of context, play a longer version and ask for a response.

If they try to sidestep the issue, play it over again and ask for a response.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hold on a second. Answer the question. As Speaker, do you believe it's appropriate to use American cities as training grounds for the military, calling those people 'the enemy within'?

JOHNSON: I'm not comment on your characterization of what the president said.

S: Those are quotes

One nuance there: he said, "the enemy from within", and that could be anyone. Especially coming from him, it's probably more like, "anyone who disagrees with me."
In other words, don't think it's going to be "just" immigrants and minorities. They'll be coming for you too, at one point or another.

"Trump suggests that admin should use "dangerous cities as training grounds" for military and National Guard." - CNN.

Training for what?

Sooner or later, dictators shift their focus outwards.
Especially when they can't solve the internal issues they promised to solve.

War is what follows then.

Nazi speeches, posters, and films warned Germans that defeat would not come from armies at the borders but from betrayal inside.

The term Volksverräter (“traitor to the people”) became a deadly label.

Goebbels hammered this theme: the “enemy within”.

Trump told generals that if military or police vehicles are hit with bricks or other objects, officers should “do whatever the hell” they want.

“You get out of that car, and you can do whatever the hell you want, because those people are, you now can die from that.”

This photo! If they cast a guy like this in a movie, you'd think he was overacting to play an over-the-top villain. I guess he is, actually, IRL.
