I get that it is well-meaning. But, I also feel like “damn! I gotta go through shit and organize my own care w/ my friends when I’m here for support.”

I also don’t see what’s wrong with using one’s identity asa strength. If I know that your target audience is Black consumers, and I am your target audience, why wouldn’t I say that I have insider knowledge that can help me in this role.
Nobody walks into an interview begging, “Hire me because I’m Black.” We walk in saying, hire me, I’m qualified. Hire me, my degree cost the same as everyone else’s. Hire me, I earned this and I need a job just like anyone else.
Hire me, don’t discriminate against me.
