Anyone feeling like doing some beta testing? 😅

I've been preparing a workshop around the topics of systems resiliency and chaos engineering. It would be great if someone is feeling like taking it for a spin, and provide feedback.

Spent the afternoon adding half-block support to the Spectre.Console canvas widget (if the terminal supports Unicode, that is).

This will reduce the space required for images rendered to the console.

I have a blog post in my mind explaining why I think most OSS people who complain about sustainability does OSS wrong, and why they will never make their OSS projects sustainable.

People who are extensive LLM users and proponents. Do you *know* that LLMs are inherently unethical and unsustainable to use, or do you know and don't care because you think the benefits outweigh the ethical concerns? If you know, what do you tell yourself to feel better about it?

Turns out extension members aren't usable unless you're on C# 14. 😔

I wish there were some kind of warning when you target net8.0/net9.0 in a library that contains extension members...

It turns out that extension members (extension everything) are not usable if you're a library author. That's a shame.
@patriksvensson.se has been modernizing Spectre.Console, part of which is refactoring to use extension members. All was going fine until I tried to use it from a net8 app. The consumer app won't even compile unless I'm using the .net 9 SDK and even then I need to bump my language version up to 14.

The new site that @philco.bsky.social has been working on is a work of art.

It's lightweight, fast, and beautiful. Also, did I mention that there's no JavaScript?

Check out MyLittleContentEngine if you need something similar for your open source .NET project.

Much has been written about potential safety benefits of AVs. Given the lack of AV data transparency, I cannot speak to whether, or to what degree, AVs are safer than an average human driver. What I can say:

This is the wrong question.

We Still Don’t Know if Robotaxis Are Safer Than Human Drivers
And even if self-driving technology proves to be less dangerous, there are many better ways to improve traffic safety and prevent fatal crashes.

So happy that we (Sweden) joined NATO right now. I was a big proponent of it happening, so this is a very precious moment for me. /s

I expect my Office 365 bill to increase soon due to "AI".

This is so stupid. Even my grandfather knew what Office was, but no one will remember copilot in a couple of years. Did they fire all their good marketing people?
Microsoft is so fucking stupid.

Microsoft renamed Microsoft Office to Microsoft 365 Copilot App

I'm not joking

I’ve recently started the habit of watching programming streams while coding myself, instead of listening to music.

Tonight’s programming friend is @freya.bsky.social, who’s working on her Silksong replay mod.

Any suggestions for other streamers I should check out?

@simoncropp.bsky.social Sorry for nerd sniping, but do you have, by any chance, an idea why "ArgumentNullException.ThrowIfNull" polyfill would not light up in a netstandard2.0 project? I'm using version 9.6.0, and what I can see, there is an extension member for this in Polyfill.

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.
