Pretty happy with my basic #picotron #bomberman bot AI. Now avoids being blown up and dead-ending where possible.

Having fun watching the chaos unfold with on-screen debug info.

Next thing will be to give them some aggression and a "smart" level.

The primary directive of the bots in my #picotron #bomberman game is to not get blown up. Experimenting (I have no idea what I'm doing) with giving tiles a score (red is negative) and ensuring bots move to a higher score to avoid explosions.

Seems like an okay first step!

For co-op play in my #bomberman #picotron game, I've decided p2 can wander outside of camera range like spelunky with just an indicator to show where they are.

Feels more intuitive than restricting movement or respawning them close to p1.

Always intended to have a female main protagonist in my #picotron #bomberman game. Based on Pretty Bomber from various different console versions (SBM3 & Sega), the result is exactly what I wanted!

Scrolling levels added for my #picotron #bomberman game.

Really like the simple, clear look of super bm3 & the sega/pce versions. My eyesight really struggled with the 3d switch version I played recently (my intro to bomberman) so keeping it clear is key for me.

My #picotron #bomberman game has had a facelift. I love the simplicity of the NES & PC Engine graphics & also the arcade version. Have "borrowed" some of the tiles etc for now & player sprites are a bit of a mash-up - but I like them.

Feel I'm getting a fairly solid version of #bomberman in place for my next #picotron project. CPU players are something I'll worry about later on. Want to get the single player and co-op basics in place first.

Next #picotron project?

Need to get a solid #bomberman engine in place first and see where that takes me. I have some ideas for different modes based on previous projects I've started but never finished.

Normal and Detonator bombs in place. Up to 4 players.

Visiting the UK (forgot how grey autumn was over here!) and hundred up reading a late birthday present from my sister. Absolutely loving “Arcade Game Typography”. Will definitely try to incorporate some fancier fonts into my next #pocotron project, whatever that might be!

Quick update on my #picotron game "Radar Rally" which is based on #rallyx. With the help of @gentspixelclub.bsky.social, this is just about done.

Just added an option to make the radar clearer as shown but, apart from that, ready to release in the day or so!

My #RallyX inspired game, Radar Rally has been a WIP for over 5 months (ever since @gentspixelclub.bsky.social mentioned it)! Finally has #chiptune title music.

Its also got a map editor and the ability to create custom "map packs". Just polishing up to do now!

After a brief test of a solid radar for #picotron Radar Rally, I've reverted to transparent again but with smaller icons with an outline. This should now be visible whatever the mode or colour scheme. Thanks for quick feedback @minionsoft.bsky.social

Trying a solid background for the radar in #picotron Radar Rally. This is necessary in "rat race" mode otherwise you can't see the cars but thinking of adopting it everywhere (at worst, an option). Just that much clearer!

How much can I pack into my #picotron Radar Rally map editor??

Border style added (sprites are placeholders). Thinking the border style will also dictate the background music for the level (since I'm running out of space 😂).

Made a few Radar Rally changes based on great feedback from @gentspixelclub.bsky.social including the ability to make the chasers go into "flee" mode at the start of a level for a few seconds.
