Did you try my minifier? It's old & not sure it copes with all Pico-8 syntax but it got bubble bobble across the line after similar issues 5 years ago:

In saying that, I had to use a combination of the tilemap and strings to define levels. Got really messy in the end.

Oh, I should have read the entire page. I assumed the disc did click like a d pad. So yeah, I’m with you if it’s fully touch!
