Vintage computing, programming and games. Talks a lot about mental health and football as well.
BBC oddly running a live feed on Hulk Hogan's passing. For my generation, it was all about WWF, ninja turtles and Nintendo. I do feel some sadness, not least because of how things turned out when we saw his persona beyond the mat.

A quick reminder of how some UK schools use smoke and mirrors to get themselves up the exam league tables. Plan A: Have school policies so strict that it completely excludes some children - typically the ones least likely to be academic.

Atari 2600+ for less than £39 at the moment on Amazon It's described as a "limited time deal", so not sure whether that's to do with the Prime Day malarkey going on at the moment or just a general deal. At that price, I'm happy to give it a test and see how it plays.
Atari 2600 Plus (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk)
The Atari 2600+ is designed to look and feel like the 4-switch Atari 2600, which launched in 1980. This modern version also plays Atari 7800 games, has a wide screen mode, easily connects to a modern TV, and includes a 10-in-1 game cartridge of classic Atari titles. The included CX40+ Joystick Controller has been recreated with the same size and layout as the original 2600 Joystick Controller, so you can relive the gameplay experiences from the beginning of home console video gaming. Games Included: • Combat® • Dodge 'Em™ • Haunted House® • Maze Craze™ • Missile Command® • Realsports® Volleyball • Surround™ • Video Pinball™ • Yars' Revenge®

My mind has been all over the place recently, so it was nice to get away for a day to #Retrofest2025.

While it's always kind for a motorist to let a pedestrian cross the road, I think most don't realise that modern windscreens are tinted to the point it's hard to see the hand signal! Thanks all the same...

Almost a decade on from the Brexit vote, and English voters continue to put their faith in Nigel Farage.

Will be interesting to see whether voters are satisfied or regretful at putting Reform in their councils over the next four years.

Why can’t Ofsted reports be a simple narrative?
List of things the school is doing well.
List of things it needs to do to improve.
Simple.

Ofsted is a bureaucratic relic incapable of evolving.

They promised an end to snap judgements, only to bring back the model months later. And that is complete with colour-coding designed to humiliate certain schools further.

This is not reform; it's doubling down on their hated rating system.

I can see many more parents turning to homeschooling their children in the coming years. The state school system is broken, and parent networks are being formed to collectively teach small groups of youngsters in UK communities.

RMC Retro (now The Retro Collective) has got to be one of the finest vintage computer and gaming archives, and all from humble YouTube origins. I'll happily throw a few coins in the pot.

I'm not sure even the USA has anything comparable to this museum.
What a day! Our museum fundraiser is fast approaching £10,000 of support.
We're all very humbled, and determined to make every £ count in creating the new space to preserve and restore as much gaming history as we can.

I have arrived on BlueSky at last. My first impression is this place is a breath of fresh air - people just commenting on... stuff. If an app pushes content that makes you feel upset, depressed and angry, then it is worthless.
