Old town Recife, Brazil is filled with colonial buildings in various dates of disrepair and vibrancy. This street was, apparently, voted one of the prettiest on earth

On my way to the airport. I’ll be in Brazil for the week scoping out venues and politics for the #CBA19 conference - too early to launch the hashtag?

It’s great to see this report out in the world. Locally-led adaptation is (slowly) moving from commitments to action. Some of that action is collected in these chapters. It’s rare to see a publication with perspectives on one issue from such a wide range of different actors gca.org/reports/2024...

I’m finding it hard to be optimistic about climate action after the debacle in Baku. Yes, we saw an increase in finance commitments, but barely more than the current trickle 1/4

This has been my big climate finance worry since COP27 - that new pledges for the l&d fund would be drawn from donors’ existing adaptation allocations. We can’t divert already minuscule adaptation finance to loss and damage; we need to scale up both, dramatically www.straitstimes.com/world/middle...
COP28 ‘loss and damage’ fund could threaten adaptation cash
Rich countries offered barely half of what they promised to adaptation projects such as flood defences and early-warning systems. Read more at straitstimes.com.
