More evolves as the painting progresses. Subtle details of the plant mater emerges from the illusion of water on top. The stones beneath become apparent. Water Lilly Pads seem to float or are partially submerged. Reflections of the plants can be seen on the water surface. The Burnt Umber underpainting is taking control and creating a warm feeling to the painting, a sense of being outside in the warm Sun.

Slowly the plant life of a water garden emerges as more passes of oil paint are placed over the Burnt Umber underpainting. Bright Rose Violet Water Lilies protrude upwards out of the dark Still Water. Massive Water Lilly Pads of bright Green, Ochre, Sienna and Crimson appear. Some foliage is partially submerged, but still can be fully visible under the still and brackish water.

Three years Sober. I know this because yesterday it was three years since I first got in the Discerning Eye Exhibition. I'd been 8 months sober at the time, but at the private view was overwhelmed and fell off the wagon for about the hundredth time. It didn't make the night better and kind of spoilt it and I knew then that I was done with drinking. This is the painting that was in the exhibition and it sold. Funnily enough it's called 'Sober Life :Mindful Washing Up' I got in the exhibition the following year and went to the private view again to face the demon of doing it sober and it was quite empowering. The painting shows a view of Jack's hands washing a black and white patterned plate in a sink full of bubbles.

WIP of a Water Feature Garden. More form of the garden features are being refined over the Burnt Umber underpainting. More color has been added to define reflections in the water. More colors of greens, ochres, siennas have been added to the Lilly Pads and green foliage. Rose Violet and Blue Violet colors added to the Water Lilly blooms.
