Amethyst from Elko Co., NV. The xls from this pocket are a very pale shade of lilac, with a brighter, more purple core. I collected this last year with my good friend on our last opportunity to rockhound together before he moved away, hence the name “Last Chance Pocket”. #amethyst #rockhound #nevada

So called beta quartz in matrix. Beta quartz forms at specific temperatures and pressures in the Earth that result in these perfectly symmetrical, hexagonal crystals. Despite this, they essentially paramorphs back into regular quartz. #quartz #betaquartz #crystals #mineralspecimens
