the town’s main street becomes a giant cat walk of important folk surrounded by their tribe. All looking overly-insulated and puffed up, and eyeing who else is in sight. Your only option - to get out the way as they trample, consume, disrupt everything in their paths!
It’s crazy.

Oh, hmm, now, well, that’s a good question! The place that completely surprised me? Well that would be (drum roll pls) Davos, the tiny but beautiful town in the Swiss alps. I was surprised to be invited, and more surprised to see the rich and powerful’s winter circus and all it entails. Shocking.

Water bills in England will rise by an average of £123 this year.

Biggest hit to customer since the industry was privatised 36 years ago.

47% price hike by Southern Water.

Sewage dumping, high dividend payments, exec pay to continue.

No one protects people.

We have a good minister / leader, but a lack of organisational knowledge within the NHS about previous policies that work is alarming. Blair’s policy on stakeholder owned models (SocEnt) within the NHS appears entirely forgotten. An no, we are not charity or voluntary! @wesstreeting.bsky.social

I can hardly think of a better example of the moral decay in modern health care than a Goldman analyst noting that biotech cures for diseases like hepatitis are cool and all, until their success diminishes the business opportunity for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Maintaining interest rates prolongs the financial strain on households + businesses, exacerbating mortgage pressures and hindering essential investments. With wages finally rising after years of stagnation, it's misguided for the Bank to treat this as a problem. 1/3
