Very glad to see @apnews.com standing up to Trump's bullying and not backing down. Because if they didn't, it wouldn't be journalism anymore. I hope that stiffens the spines of the rest of the craven media.

Yes it's a bit in the weeds (you expected something else from us?) but it's an increasingly important question: Should we rebuild the grid from the bottom up (leveraging customer assets) or the middle out (leveraging distribution utility investment)?
In Ep. 263, @chrisnelder.bsky.social debates the CEO of Australian distribution utility Ausgrid about when and whether it’s best for customers or distribution utilities to own and operate grid assets like battery storage systems. xenetwork.org/ets/episodes...

Good god
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

We’re at another moment when the media’s ignorance about energy meets the political manipulation of narratives, and consumers wind up screwed and more confused than ever. Blaming AI is easy (and it *will* increase utility costs) but that’s not why bills are high NOW. 1/2

German taxpayers are handing BMW €273m to once again attempt to push hydrogen-powered cars, when battery prices have once again dropped >50% in the past ~18 month and CATL is on its 5th-gen LFP battery.

CATL, BYD et al must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Sigh.

📢Global Carbon Budget 2025📢

Fossil CO2 emissions continue to rise in 2025 while the terrestrial carbon sink recovers to pre-El Niño strength.

The key findings are covered in two reports this year:

China is making friends and extending its influence while the US is alienating its friends and withdrawing from the world, retreating behind a wall of hostile policies and trade barriers
In the past 20 yrs, China extended >$800 billion in loans to emerging market and developing country economies to finance infrastructure, energy etc. China’s loan portfolio surpassed those of the World Bank, the IMF, and all 22 Paris Club creditor governments combined.

We are throwing the climate under the bus in exchange for tech of dubious value. At the end of the day, after all the hype, that’s the actual trade here.
Extremely telling clip with Crusoe Energy's CEO talking about data centre development.

"there's no way it's going to get to 100% carbon-free power production to power all of the AI infrastructure"

Just saying out loud what the companies say internally.

Articles on grid problems with solar and wind increasingly fall into two categories:

1) Those that prophesy doom, talk about inertia, and ignore or misunderstand batteries and inverters.

2) Those that show you get a more resilient system with solar, wind, batteries, and grid forming inverters.
Re: www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202... 🎁🔗 we already have the technology to modify inverter settings dynamically to help stabilize grid voltage, provide synthetic inertia, etc. It's being used *now* in South Australia. See @TransitionShow Ep. 251 for all the details: xenetwork.org/ets/episodes...
