Building a scalable and accountable carbon removal industry requires early demand. Learnings from real deployments are the best way to drive down MRV uncertainty and develop new innovations.

That's why I'm excited to join the CDR Demand session at Carbon Unbound East Coast, May 20-21 in NYC.

This is a big one for us! We’re partnering with Vesta to apply the Absolute Carbon Standard to marine CDR for the first time.

mCDR is often treated as a 2nd class citizen, because of the challenge of connecting project claims to atmospheric impacts. We want to fix this.

Really appreciate this opinion piece by Freya, Zeke, and Kata. I totally agree. “What is CDR” is the wrong question. The real question is: Does a project deliver the right climate impact?

By default, carbon removal standards are inherently a race to the bottom. Projects want methodologies that are as economical as possible, and registries are willing to provide them to win business.

Whether CDR remains high-quality long term has more to do with incentives than science. When registries define quality for themselves, competition for projects inevitably leads to a race to the bottom.
