We must all come together to condemn the horrific hate we saw in Dearborn this week. It has no place in our state or anywhere in America.

I’m thrilled to bring home needed investments for Michigan’s servicemembers. This includes funding for Selfridge Air National Guard Base that will help make critical upgrades to the base to support our national security. A great win for our state.

Earlier this morning, President Trump threatened me and a group of service and veteran Members of Congress with arrest, trial, and death by hanging.

Here’s my response:

I applaud my veteran colleagues for standing by the Constitution and the rule of law. Trump’s call for the arrest and execution of elected officials who are simply upholding the law is a disgrace and should be condemned by every American.
Read the joint statement from myself, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Representatives Jason Crow (D-CO-06), Chris Deluzio (D-PA-17), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH-02), and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-06):

Michigan small businesses are the backbone of our economy. But right now they are facing chaotic tariffs, high inflation, and rising health care costs. I was glad to meet with them here in DC to talk about how we work to lower costs and make sure our economy works for them.

President Trump promised to slash electricity costs in half. Today, Americans in almost every state, including Michigan, are facing higher bills.
November 13, 2025 at 9:38 PM
We must bring down costs and make everyday life more affordable. Michiganders can’t continue to afford these rising prices.
November 13, 2025 at 5:39 PM
There are fewer health plans available on Michigan’s marketplace for next year, and it’s hurting Michiganders’ wallets right now.

This directly relates to the expiring ACA tax credits, Trump’s tariffs, and Republicans’ massive health care cuts this year.

Trump's Administration could release the full SNAP funding currently available right now. Yet, he has fought it every step of the way. Hungry children should not be penalized as we keep working to reopen the government.

It's a very simple compromise: Protect existing health care credits, end the shutdown.

We must take action on rising costs for families who are shopping for their health care right now, and we can end this shutdown.
November 8, 2025 at 7:35 PM
I am proposing a very simple deal to reopen the government:

- Include a one-year clean extension of the current health care tax credits to immediately address Americans’ rising costs.
- Create a bipartisan committee that will continue negotiations on reforms ahead of next year’s enrollment period

Wishing Speaker Emerita Pelosi all the best in her retirement. Americans may never know what your leadership has meant to our democracy. I am grateful to have seen it firsthand as we got things done, from protecting consumers after the ‘08 crash to expanding access to health care. Thank you.
