A friend who lives in Cyprus showed me a music video he had made for the Middle Eastern market, showing a car driving on the right through a barren landscape. He told me he had filmed it in Cyprus (LHD) and I asked how he had managed that... and immediately realised he had just flipped the video
My mother still remembers the horror of the discovery of the death camps in 1945, and in August we spoke to someone who remembers American soldiers moving in to occupy her village in Bavaria. There aren't many of them left though - and indeed no-one under 40 has any memory of the Cold War
We get the same thing in Birmingham, where you have to click on an advert-laden link to discover the "coolest suburb outside London" - which may or may not be the one promoted last month
"I understand that Hitler went nuts at the end,” Logan explained. “No wonder, the drugs do that to most people. But at the start he had good intentions. Maybe they slipped a bit but he had good intentions for his country.” Millions of victims - Miriam's relatives among them - would beg to disagree
I've no idea how this works but the only maths my job (in software) required was to know powers of 2, so the numbers are all very familiar. Would be a lot easier in hexadecimal though...
"An advantage of STV is that it eliminates tactical voting." Except, it seems, for the really determined
Years ago we voted for a Peers Panel from which prospective HoL nominees were to be selected with, I think, 167 candidates. I began by ranking the candidates on a scale of 1 to 10 but soon realised that in practice my vote was unlikely to transfer many times, so it was only worth voting for the 10's
To be precise, it is the Scottish Sun - two words that rarely go together in the same sentence, so it's questionable which is the fake here

Thank you for tagging me in this nonsense 🤣
The clock is on GMT but the calendar is stuck on BST (British Stuart Time)

(The clock projects from the Guildhall above the High Street, Guildford)
"Begone!"

The angel apparently wants the scaffolding off its turf - the turf being the roof of Guildford Cathedral
"What can we put in the window to help people forget that they can't afford any of our properties?"
Today, while we were both in a shopping centre (a very rare occurrence) Miriam bought a bag. She bag she already had wasn't big enough to put it in, but I had a bigger bag, so lent her that to put the new bag in. It's nice to feel that I've done my bit
Looks as though it's not up and running yet, but in the meantime there's always Conservapedia for a healthy dose of full-on conservative fundamentalism www.conservapedia.com

Some of our ponds have got rather polluted…
I thought Bolivia might be up there but it didn't quite make the cut (as it were). I'm surprised South American cows haven't evolved skin markings to indicate where to slice them up
High robbery rate in North Wales? I have a friend who lives there and no-one locks their doors - indeed, she knows someone who leaves a note inviting anyone to come in and make themselves a cup of tea
Crossing the Thames on the District Line. The bridge has parapets on each side, blocking the view of the river. Is this to avoid the driver being distracted by the view?
At the Science Museum, we’re looking at a display about IVF and remembering the birth of Louise Brown - in its time, an absolute miracle. Then a woman standing nearby tells her 2 children that they were born by IVF. Miracles happen every day
Years ago I had an Irish work colleague who got rather miffed at her exclusion from some military-related work because Ireland is not a member of NATO. She had a moan to another colleague who replied, "But surely Ireland is part of the UK?" Puts ignorance of Irish presidents in perspective
And people say the British press doesn't know anything about Ireland. They got this scoop, didn't they.
I know it's not the main point, but I've only seen DANA capitalised before... I hope its transformation into a word doesn't mean that it's expected to be a regular occurrence
Let's go away, I said. Somewhere quiet, I said. Away from it all, I said. So we find ourselves in a rather dusky Trafalgar Square
