Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

Went to my first Sunderland game this season (not as easy to get there as often as I like what with living in Chester) and what an awesome game! So impressive that we kept our heads and found a way to win in difficult circumstances. Really impressive football! Great to be there with my amazing wife!

This is absolutely wild. Not only are Reform morally bankrupt liars but they’re just absolutely rubbish aren’t they?

One hundred per cent.

This is about deep fundamental freedoms. This is really serious and we should all be against it.
David Lammy was right in 2020 when he called the jury system fundamental to our constitution.

Now the government wants to remove juries from all but the most serious cases. It is dangerous and wrong and the Prime Minister must reverse it.

Shame on the government for this. Never ever let them forget it. The Tories and Reform would 100% have done this as well. Politics is about choices and about your priorities. They have all made theirs clear. I think, and so do @libdems.org.uk, that they are profoundly wrong.
I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.

That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.

Massive kudos to Tony Mowbray for this interview. It’s one thing for blokes my age to be open about “embarrassing” health issues but for a man of his generation to do it is a big thing. Get the men, particularly the more vintage men, in your life to read this.

The BBC Sport website has just said on its live text feed that Liverpool have lost by an aggregate of 7-1 to both Nottingham Forest and PSV over their last 2 games. Aggregate scores are usually what you look at when 2 teams have played each other more than once. I’m sorry BBC Sport, I love you but…

The nonsense from the MoJ in this leaked document is mind blowing. To talk as if fair trials based on a system that has endured for 800 years is what has caused a backlog which is based on systemic underinvestment and executive failure over the past few decades is either stupid, dishonest or both.

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

I’ve said it before, but I think this guy is
a proper talent and he talks so much sense. I hope Americans listen to him and his message, appropriately amended of course, has resonance on this side of the pond as we take on our own dishonest, corrupt populists.
Ossoff: "We have a president who's completely out of control, a crook engaged in unprecedented corruption, who's passing one of the most unpopular agendas in history. The public is turning against him. The opposition is motivated. We can win & we have to win, but we don't have the luxury of despair"

Had a chat this morning with a chap who refused to acknowledge Brexit’s role in increased illegal immigration.

We shook hands and left as friends, which is important, but agreed to profoundly disagree.

Sometimes the facts can be terribly inconvenient for an argument can’t they?

Tories - wish they were Reform

Labour - terrified of Reform

Greens - as mad as Reform (pulling out of NATO Zack? Really?)

Lib Dems - Called out Reform’s lies whilst Farage bends the knee to Putin & Trump. Unapologetic in standing for principles that are truly British.

Stop Farage. Vote Lib Dem.

10 1/2 years for Gill.

Remember when these conmen from Reform and all their far right pals wave the Union Jack and talk about patriotism that it is a lie. They're in it for themselves and THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They will sell our country out to the highest bidder. Putin, Trump, take your pick.
November 21, 2025 at 1:01 PM
Make no mistake, Nathan Gill is a traitor. A man who rose to the top of Reform UK in Wales was effectively a Russian asset. Nigel Farage is either lying about not knowing or he is breathtakingly incompetent. Either way he has shown that he and his party are not even approaching being fit for office.

Saying defendants are "gaming the system" is absurd.

Courts have been underfunded for years. That's the problem & now they come for your rights instead of solving it. Same old Labour reverting to authoritarianism when the going gets tough.

Shameful nonsense.
