Scored tickets to Shakespeare in the Park's 12th Night, very excited!
I'm watching Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman" series and it does seem a bit reminiscent of Tanith Lee's "Flat Earth" series, only set in a modern era.

I suspect her books were an influence on him.
Brilliant
I had a professor of Jewish Studies at UChicago who made the administration very angry because every year he made a proposal for the university to create an on-campus memorial to the worldwide victims of the UChicago economics department.

The big difference was Amazon's profitability required growth to a significant scale and size to begin earning, while AI just fails to consistently do what is claimed it will do, and it's a functionality that can't be fixed given the constraints it faces.
The Last Blockbuster in the USA, went inside and they're playing DragonballZ on the "in ancient times" museum display which is just perfect
you know you're an internet elder when you've got an email account (I no longer use) that's so old it was in the Myspace data breach.
Many restaurants now charge a credit card processing fee to the customer so at this point you're literally paying for the "convenience of not using cash".

So after years of not using cash, I'm back to using it when possible.

hah hah, oh yes, I've always wanted to visit Portland and this time it's just happening in passing because of work, but I have a feeling I'm going to love it there so much I'll want to do a proper visit soon. :D
I noticed the food carts on the maps, are they 24/7?

I will be getting there late the night before (11 pm) and was thinking if the food pods/ carts are open late it would be a great opportunity to check them out.
I am always open to food recommendations!

I will have a rental, but I get the impression parking in some areas is quite tough so am open to a mass transit jaunt.

Oh, are the street food carts really a big deal? I keep seeing those come up on maps I check out.
Thanks so much I got some excellent suggestions from bsky portlanders and realized for a small fee my hotel does an upgrade that includes a Powell's books gift card so I am jumping on that!

I'm going to be in Portland for my first time ever in a few weeks (Old Town area).

What would you say is some must do things to do if you only have a day there and you live a relatively unathletic lifestyle? :D

It definitely works too, I automatically slow down when I'm on roads like these and I see others doing it.

Meanwhile where I lived before they lowered the speed limit to 25 on my block, put in a digital "your speed" sign, and over 10 years it had absolutely no effect on slowing people down.
On the flip side of this I put a blue storage bin out that for weeks everyone including sanitation refuses to take because they're all convinced it's a recycling bin despite a note saying "THIS IS GARBAGE PLEASE TAKE!"

I had to call the city and make special arrangements for them to come take it.
I just moved from an "I need my car to go for walks" area to a highly walkable area where I don't need my car for anything.

Before I struggled with dieting just to do a losing battle of maintaining my weight, now I'm not really dieting and still slowly losing weight.
