Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin in 1912. She was incarcerated in Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in 'Union' munition factory from where together with other women she smuggle gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged #OTD 6 January 1945.

The festive period is always billed as the most wonderful time of the year and yes, it is lovely to have some time off from the grinding mill, to spend time with family and friends. It can also be hard work, with all the present buying, the food cooking and generally being nice to people you long ago decided to live apart from.

On this day in 1944, a 25 year old Dutch Jewish woman arrived at Auschwitz. Her parents were murdered in the camp in Sep 1944 and brother in Aug 1942. Two other siblings survived the Shoah. Her name was Eliza Violet Alexandra Belinfante

This is perfect. The DOJ's embarrassing snafu with disappearing redactions was the fault of Elon Musk. Musk cancelled government subscriptions to Adobe programs that would have made the redactions permanent. What a pack of fools.
