We used to joke over here that you could park anywhere you liked, so long as you put your hazard lights on. I have seen guys in suits park in a bus zone while ducking in to buy smokes, a woman go into a bottle shop parked in a disabled spot, and endless hordes park in loading zones. Hazard lights!
I've been blankly staring at a section of bookshelf for the last couple of days (it's just a "I'm thinking" stare) and someone just came in and asked for one of the books in that section of books.

Needing to reorder another lot of Popular Penguins is not a bad problem to have!
Look, I'm not saying that mobile phone spam is getting out of control, but it's barely 1/4 past 8 and I got an SMS about a sale for a place I haven't been to for about four years...
For those that are curious they sell their singles for AUS $1 which is about USD $0.65
The new Dressing Gowns song has dropped! Gnowangerup. And I believe it's Bandcamp Friday (or whatever that non-catchy name is).

I woke up singing the chorus of the song The Dressing Gowns are currently working on (so it must be catchy, at least to me), and then some completely different lyrics not at all related to Bus9 came to me and when I got into work I played around with a few chords. As you do.

Thinking about getting some of these in; they have a good price point, there are some interesting title, and I think they look good. Thought? Opinions? Recipes for Lobster Jello?

Four stories went out, four rejections came in. At least one had feedback!
*twiddles thumbs*
I am sure this has been said millions of times, but it would really be nice to have someone else to do all that boring submission, finding an agent, and ancillary stuff so I can focus on the writing part...
Despite the King being born in November, we have the King's Birthday long weekend this weekend, which is not a global thing, or even an Australian thing (other countries and states pick their own dates), but, by crickey! we will not let that stand in the way of a long weekend!
My first AD&D character was a Paladin. The choice was based solely on how cool that picture was.
According to the lies* I have told the taxman this year I'll be getting a refund!

*From a certain point of view.
Tough times here at the bookshop with Benny the Beagle not around; the cat threw up (which is the kind of normal cat behaviour you just shrug about and hope to clean up before you step in it) and then she had to eat her own vomit. The sacrifices we must make in these troubled times, and all that...
I had a bit of an idea for a story and wound up writing a bit of a story.
I think, perhaps, I need to ruminate more until all the pieces fall into place...
I still love that cover.
That's a supportive like, not a "hurrah things are bad" like.
One of the magazines I sent a story off to has a 1 minute to 48 hour turn around on submissions. I assumed this was a joke until I got a rejection in 24 hours. As they have no wait time between submissions (only one active at a time) I sent another, darker story. It's been 3 days. That's good right?
That does look like a fun room to be in.
Sent out three short stories today. Now we play the waiting game...
Have any of you actually tried to shiver your timbers? It's not as much as fun as you'd think!
I wish I could sleep on the plane - those 15 hour flights across the Pacific were brutal; sleeping would have been awesome!
Looking for a literary agent is much more difficult than I had envisaged.
In order to save myself time, I have given up looking up Marvel characters I don't know and to just assume they are a Jean Grey clone.
