Genuinely sad to hear that Udo Kier has died. A great actor with a piercing sense of camp and scorn but who, to me, will always be Yuri.

Folk who let off fireworks are the worst cunts at the best of times but anyone who does it at half five on a random Friday in a residential area should be skinned alive. Absolute dogshit people.

Ciabatta bread was invented in 1982, which means there was a period of some years when I existed but ciabatta did not.

A physician is not angry at the intemperance of a mad patient, nor does he take it ill to be railed at by a man in a fever. Just so should a wise man treat all mankind, as a physician does his patient, and look upon them only as sick and extravagant - Seneca The Younger

In the middle of an unassuming new-build housing estate in Prestonpans, just outside Edinburgh, you can find this imposing statue. The work of Andy Scott’s, who also designed the Kelpies, it is a memorial to the 81 men and women who, throughout the 17thC, were executed in the town for witchcraft.
