I think it was just a bunch of crystals in a room, which would take control of your characters. Could be that the boss is actually super easy, but I recall the situation getting hopeless very fast.

The plot of the game seemed interesting, but also felt like it was not gonna have a happy ending.

I liked playing FFT Advance, but I ended up losing a ton of progress by dying to a boss fight (a very unfair one if you ask me...) as I hadn't saved the game in hours.
The cartridge for that game has been collecting dust ever since that.

Ah that's a tough start for sure. The oxyferns are quite useful, but if you want to make more oxygen then electrolysers are quite good, if you have the water needed. But sending in the algae is a good solution as well.

And congrats on finally getting to your second planet then!

Not a gameboy game, but there's this video explaining how a team made a 40kb NES game, and it's a good watch.
I love learning all the little tricks devs had to use in order to make stuff work on the older consoles.

Finished making the boost animation for Riggs in Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's not amazing and still needs some tuning, but it's good enough for now at least.
