Here's a crazy idea: let's stop pretending that institutions under capitalism can be changed for the better; it's time to focus on mutual aid, solidarity, self-governance and community. Let's build ephemeral utopias.

Fats Waller: adventure cat at large.
Today in trail training, we attempted Dragon's Tooth in Catawba Valley. Only made it halfway, but she made great progress learning to share the trail with humans and dogs. Next time, she'll make it.

As a STEM grad student, my workstation looks less like a sterile bench, supercomputer and Erlenmeyer flasks and more like esspressotinis, a yoga mat, and an emo playlist at high volume. Do not follow my example. #neurodivergent #queerstem #ecology

Warning to hikers on the AT! A man-eating tabby cat was spotted today hunting from the canopy. Quercus Montana provide perfect cover for cat pouncing and bug eating. #trailcat #caturday

When Flora guides disagree and contradict, what do my fellow naturalists do? Salicornia/Salcocornia is a beautiful example of disputed taxonomy.

Early autumn colors of ridgetop oak, buckeye and hemlock forests. We discovered that the strips of early yellow that appear in August halfway up the Blue Ridge slopes arejust buckeye. Doing what buckeye does. And beneith them, autumn blooms. www.inaturalist.org/observations... 🌿🌍

Guys, remember when Aang refused to kill Fire Lord Ozai? That moment changed me forever. I can't stop thinking about it.

On one hand, would I refuse playing football with a dictator's head? Probably not.

On the other, I want to find a way to just take away their bending powers, Aang-style

This podcast is the meaning that's missing from my relationships in grad school. Harsh, but my community has been holding me back: debating whether fascism is real. Makes isolation more appealing.

Not trying to send more traffic to spotify, it's what works for me.

Being queer sometimes means
The cis will be uneasy if we "make it our whole identity"
But if we don't, they misgender us, are blind to us, accuse us of deceiving, claim they feel violated
There's no correct way to be queer

Datana? Anyone familiar with Prominent moths? Kitty is definitely entertained by them. Between the bitter taste, coloration, wiggliness and spikiness, they have a puzzling allure. No worries I did not allow any harm to the worm. 🌿 #caturday #catsofbluesky www.inaturalist.org/observations...
