Hi Sky!

My name is Carlos A. Pittella, I’m a Latinx poet, & you may find my bordercrossing/borderbeing in poems like “WATSONS”

—luv to @chaudierebooks.bsky.social for publishing this piece during National Poetry Month: chaudierebooks.blogspot.com/2025/04/nati...
I’ve written for @assistedlab.bsky.social about José Saramago’s fabulous novel “Death with Interruptions,” focusing on the ethical questions it raises around assisted dying.
‘As intermitências da morte’ by José Saramago explores the economic, political, & ethical questions raised if, suddenly, people stopped dying. To see how it has been cited in debates on the legalization of assisted dying see 👇

This allegorical novel explores the economic, political, religious, and ethical questions that would be raised if, suddenly, people stopped dying.

We are delighted to publish Tracy Fuad’s (@tracyfuad.bsky.social) extraordinary little poem, “Living.” In just a few words, she manages to build this vast interconnected universe where objects and bodies seamlessly blur together:

🙋 As a poet, is it healthy that I spent yesterday thinking how:

1 ÷ 2 × 3 × 4ˆ5 ÷ 6 × 7 ÷ 8 × 9 + 10 = 2026❔

Anyway, happy 1/2*3*4ˆ5/6*7/8*9+10 everyone❣️

ps. sparknote: 4ˆ5 = 4 to the 5th power = 4×4×4×4×4

The story of Ramón Sampedro influenced the legalization of assisted dying in Spain and elsewhere.

But beyond Alejandro Amenábar's film Mar Adentro with Javier Bardem, there's also Sampedro’s own book 'Cartas desde el infierno'

We all had teacher like Mrs Nelson. This is a gentle reminder of the life lessons grown into

There is a great irony in the title, the wisdom being shared on the one day the poet was absent

The line ‘The English lesson was that I am is a complete sentence’ is a poem in itself
