💯on all counts.
Yeah, the new Muppet Show is cute, and Sabrina Carpenter was basically the perfect first guest for it. If they make more they should do Chappel Roan next. The Muppet version of "Pink Pony Club" would be wild.

Oh, hey, that's me!

People keep asking me about SETI@home, and today, I will have some answers. But #notaliens. Yet. Come watch and bring your questions!
SETI@home turned millions of home computers into a scientific instrument. 🧪 🔭 👩‍🔬

Years later, that data is still being explored.

In this SETI Live, we talk with Eric Korpela (UC Berkeley) about a new analysis highlighting ~100 signals worth closer attention.

Next #SETILive: TODAY, 8 January, 2:30 PST

2026 brings a dense lineup of space science milestones: crewed lunar missions, new observatories, planetary exploration, and data releases that will shape the next decade.

Join @planetarypan.bsky.social and @allplanets.bsky.social to connect the dots! 🧪 🔭

I always enjoy chatting with Cynthia, and this interview was no different. Amazing how scientists and engineers quickly repurposed existing spacecraft to observe comet 3I/ATLAS, including Europa Clipper!
In a recent #SETILive discussion, @planetarypan.bsky.social and @planetcynthia.bsky.social discussed how an instrument built for a very different target was rapidly repurposed to study one of the rarest objects ever detected in the solar system. 🧪 🔭 👩‍🔬

This place may not be open to the public or even finished, but the building and location are both beautiful. I am excited for the tour! And dinner, of course. 🧪🔭👩‍🔬 #aas247

Hi, y’all. I won’t be at #aas247 today due to a severe asthma attack. I’m fine but shaky from the treatment.

I’ll be at the Dark Sky Discovery Center tour tonight tho. If you’re coming, let me know so I can say hello! 🧪🔭👩‍🔬

It’s that time of year, and for the first time in over a decade, I am in person at #AAS247! Excited to be here. Want me to check out your work? Let me know. I’m looking forward stories and podcast guests. 🧪🔭👩‍🔬

Tonight’s pointless debate between the men in my life…

Is the Flash’s ring suit compressed or shrunken?

@gailsimone.bsky.social got an opinion?

It's always fun to chat with Franck, no matter the topic, but I am now incredibly excited for his latest project.
#ICYMI: During a special #SETILive last week, @allplanets.bsky.social introduced his latest project -- @skymapper.bsky.social. The company is setting out to decentralize astronomy through a network of connected, personal telescopes. Watch the full episode: youtube.com/live/zbDWsEF... 🧪 🔭

An excellent thread on structural bullshit in academia, how to avoid mental traps, and encouragement to people from marginalized backgrounds. The system isn’t fair, but it can be gamed and it’s designed to intimidate people into failing. Don’t let them fool you.
A note on learning physics ⚛️ for starting PhD students:
At the risk of saying something completely useless because everyone has it worked out

There is no magic trick, your classmates *may* be faster than you, but they are still studying as long as they need to and you are quite capable of the same

I was wondering. Such an odd alert and then no actual quake shown on the map. Thanks for the clarification!
The warning for an M5.9 earthquake near Dayton, NV this morning was an incorrect alert issued by the USGS ShakeAlert program. None of the stations in the Nevada Seismological Laboratory network detected any large earthquakes in Nevada this morning.

Samples of Bennu, a primitive asteroid orbiting near Earth, contain some surprising ingredients: natural sugars, gummy polymers, and specks of stardust that are even older than our solar system.

There's a lot of complex chemistry brewing in space! 🧪🔭

In case anyone is wondering what to get me as a gift... (but not the hair stuff. I don't have enough hair anymore.)

Or, you know, you want to support a friend who makes gorgeous pieces of space art, both functional and for display.
My Etsy shop is now open, and I'm shipping twice a week. Just posted: these hair claw clips, wire-wrapped with high-quality gemstone beads for the 8 planets, including gorgeous brown rhodochrosite for Jupiter. elakdawalla.etsy.com

What now? Oh, this is super cool.

What do you think, peeps? Podcast topic for my new show? I think so.
NASA's Curiosity Rover found evidence of tides in the sediments of an ancient lake. Today's Martian moons aren't big enough to to do that.

Mars may once have had a much larger moon, which then shattered (perhaps repeatedly), creating the smaller moons of today. 🧪🔭
