Here's something holiday lore you probably never knew… cause I sure didn't. In 2004 (before gay families were commonly accepted), a filmmaker released Too Cool for Christmas and A Very Cool Christmas. Two identical movies, but one of them featured a pair of straight parents and one had two dads.

“Back in those days, there was a little bit less open-mindedness to having gay characters,” director Sam Irvin told BuzzFeed News.

It takes strength to exercise restraint in a time of strength so a force can't defeat you in a moment of weakness. You might block distracting apps so you can focus when you need or commit to goals publicly so you're held accountable, and it turns out there's a name for that: a Ulysses Pact.

Many people treat pigeons like rats with wings, but pigeons once held human lives in their beaks. They navigated through gunfire, fog, and the open sea with a better success rate than many early radios. This article gave me a new appreciation for pigeons, as noble war heroes.
