My kids asked if I have a celebrity crush. I said "Yeah, Kurt Gödel." They're now reading from Wikipedia while howling at how lame I am. "Mom! A dead recluse mathematician is your celebrity crush?!" "Do you have Dad read the incompleteness theorems to you?" Kids are amazing for real tho. So funny.

Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

ICE now very literally at war with Presbyterians
jackjenkins.me
Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Alt text: 3 Men & a Little Lady movie poster.

This is a hard disagree for me. The sequel is magical as fuck. As a kid, the big reveal in the church scene is still an all-time favorite movie theater experience. Its adventure, its romantic, its fun. But not everything is gonna be for everyone.

Far from the massive box office smash of its predecessor, Emile Ardolino's sequel loses the magic of the original film when it splits up the paternal trio in Selleck's race to win over the mother of the titular little lady. Beautifully shot, still charming & funny even when the jokes are familiar.

An independent autopsy funded by Colin Kaepernick challenges claims that a Black man lynched himself in Mississippi. Instead the findings show blunt force head trauma.

Allegations also point to a confrontation with white college students over Charlie Kirk before his death.

As someone with a screenwriting credit who worked in arts criticism, I'd love to address Tilly Norwood on its merits.

But, like, I don't know how your product bounces back from "...if you wish to see a virgin onscreen, this is one of your better chances."

I'm sorry: "if I wish to see a virgin on-screen"?
My Favorite Actress Is Not Human
Tilly Norwood doesn’t need a hairstylist, has no regrettable posts, and if you wish to see a virgin on-screen, this is one of your better chances. That’s because she’s AI.

A picture of some AI girl standing on an AI landscape with an AI monster behind her. I'm gonna be so real: she looks about 14
