Furry has always been queer. Furry has always been punk. Furry has always been counter-culture. And these values are specifically why the fandom is so amazingly positive and powerful as an entity.
The reason this conversation is so complicated is because at its core art should be free and accessible to everyone, but that would require valuing everyone, including artists, much higher than the present world order currently does.
Calling authors petit bourgeoisie is indeed insane. We are artisans and we deserve to profit from our labor.
That said, digital piracy has never been shown to represent actual lost sales, and may in fact DRIVE sales. I think authors should cool out about it.

It’d be really cool to be paid for my art in any serious capacity one day but no one who pirates my books is ever stealing from me. A kind word, fanart, even just reading it, is more payment than the parasites who’ve eviscerated art as a career available for most people will ever pay me for my labor

This is interesting. I've been having a very hard time planning for anything beyond a couple days lately. My life, especially this year, has not gone according to plan. The stress and heartache of constantly having to re-evaluate and make peace with less time, less joy, less security, takes its toll

Serialized anthology is the ideal form for comics. Being able to read, digest, and enjoy multiple stories in small chunks over time is more stimulating and rewarding than binging on one, and gives readers a chance to compare and contrast them together while sampling different genres and narratives.

I did this, and realized that all the things that I told myself were impossible were the things I should be pursuing (activism, art, writing for print, journalism...)

your logical mind will likely scoff at the idea, but ask yourself, why not have hope? get to the root of that disbelief. tap into your inner child, yours likely has beliefs in what was possible that you may not currently have, bc they were flattened by what we collectively label as objective truth!

This is such good stuff! I love the buildup and payoff from 'get rid of one pig', 'get rid of lots of pigs', and 'get rid of every pig in town' to the clever solution returning everything to the status quo. All in 4 short strips! (5 if you count the epilogue)
