Over a week ago, I requested today off because Hubz had an appointment. Since he’s now in the hospital and on the mend, today will probably turn into a catch-up day for all the tasks I couldn’t get to during the chaos of the weekend.

I left his phone in his room. 6pm, he texted me pure gibberish. 7pm, he called asking me to take him home. Midnight, he called, sounding much more coherent:
“I know I’m at the hospital. I learned they did the procedure. They told me you’re at home. And I know you’ll keep me safe. I love you.” ♥️

I felt really guilty leaving while he was asleep. I tried to wake him, but not very hard. I kept telling myself that rest is the best place for him to be right now, and he wouldn’t have remembered a goodbye anyway. Still, walking out while he slept wasn’t easy.

Voila. Managed to get it all out at the same time, too. Turkey, fried cauliflower, cornbread, green bean casserole, cheddar biscuits, brown sugar carrots, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.

The last few weeks, I’ve been wearing shirt stays to work. They took a little getting used to, but I love them. My shirts stay tucked and taut, they’re way more flattering, and bonus: it feels like I’m wearing something a little naughty underneath all day. 😈

I spent this past weekend in Wisconsin, and thanks to some very special folks, I came home feeling alive and seen.
