#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.240 Bomber Boy (GB). Bomberman's first portable outing. The stages all have (sometimes very annoying) gimmicks and you can select your items beforehand. It can get repetitive, but it's bomberman; what you see is what you get. But as always: pretty fun!

#justbeatbeatit Ghost of Yotei fine tunes the open-world experience by immersing you in a world in which every side distraction feels worthwhile and as important as the main story. Plenty of variety in attacks and gear, solid story, fantastic soundtrack @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

I had a good time playing Salamander 2. Great gameplay and visuals and a fantastic soundtrack. I was able to beat the Japanese easy version with 3 credits via the Gradius Origins collection. #justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

I #justbeatit Persona 5 Royal. What an experience! I felt a real emotional connection to the characters. It took much of the play through to feel ok with all the systems, locations, mini games. I see the draw to play again; to relive the world. Master storytelling. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

#justbeatit BALL X PIT. I stayed up past my bedtime many nights for an additional run or to upgrade parts of my town. I still have a few blueprints to unlock and there seems to be more to do, but I may use this beat to go cold turkey on this gaming addiction @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

Only though judicious rewinding could I ever #JustBeatIt Super R-type, even on easy, so that's what I did. The near constant slowdown is a blessing; normal speed returning unpredictably is what'll get you. Mostly a remix of concepts from the earlier, better games.Skip it

Hi @polykillpodcast.bsky.social community.

If anyone is having trouble filling in the “If everyone else jumped off a cliff“ bingo square I decided to do what at @vayar.bsky.social did last year and post what I’m currently playing so that we can to beat this square together.

Now playing:

Dead Land 2 (PSVR2) doesn't have any of the janky charme of the first game. The game has so many bugs that you can get stuck in the tutorial 30 seconds in. Or the flamethrower may run out of ammo until reinstalling the game. Avoid, even for cheap.

Also #justbeatit Cattle Crisis!

Fantastic little PICO-8 bullet hell schmup with a fun to learn scoring mechanic. Go play it for free krystman.itch.io/cattle-crisis or throw him a few bucks for the installer. I of course can’t beat the scores of the big guys.

251) A Way Out

A friend from work had recommended this co-op game for me so I decided to try it out with my younger brother. The game ended up being really fun. The splitscreen was pretty cool as it made it look like two different games were going on at once

It really seemed like Alan Wake 2 would not end, and after about 50 hours it finally did. I feel like How long to beat is way off on this one. Also knocked out the 2 DLC’s. Way harder than I remember the 1st game being, and featuring some very obtuse puzzles. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.233 Aerofighters (ARC). A buddy of mine grabbed a new arcade cab, so we fired up one of my favorite shmups. His kids jumped in and loved it. We ended up beating the game together. Always happy to pass on some retro-arcade love!

Finally tortured myself and beat Shaq Fu (Snes). It is painful with poor controls and frames. I resorted to doing enough damage and letting the timer run out because after the first 2 fights, it became painful. 1.5/5 Now onto the genesis version. #justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

Hey @polykillpodcast.bsky.social I #JustBeatIt Ghost of Yotei. This series continues to be the best open world games in the business. See a thing, go towards that thing, get distracted by other things on the way to that first thing. I don't Platinum many games, but I did this one.

257) Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble (PSP)

I decided to go with the PSP version since it has a few exclusive characters. While I love the huge roster and the combat is good, the story mode for me felt muddled with annoying cpu and tedious mission objectives.

#justbeatit Silent Hill f is a solid spooker. Managing health, stamina, special attacks, weapon durability, and items to replenish each, eventually gets repetitive once enemy types stop evolving. Game is short so I overall liked the creepy settings with neat puzzles @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

232) Mortal Kombat 3 (Genesis)

To avoid sounding like a broken record I’ll just say that for this port aside from few obvious technical differences it pretty much plays the same as the SNES port.

Who can resist a Dino fighting game? Sure the controls are sluggish, muddy graphics, and it’s way too dark. Still, I had a smile on my face the whole time. 3.25/5⭐️ @polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit

241) Bubsy 2 (Genesis)

This one ended up being worse than the SNES version. Mainly due to the fact that for some reason they made the high jump it’s own separate button so if you go into the game blind you won’t know why your can’t reach the higher platforms

This was a great entry in the series as well a great culmination of the original Mortal Kombat. The fact that you can play as the original boss characters is worth the price of admission alone.
