Also might not be OSA/KOSA and might instead be the US state or federal laws currently being passed/discussed that aren’t always id verification but straight up bans on certain content. It’s all happening so fast

either way at this point it doesnt feel like companies randomly deciding to implement these rules, esp when they all turn up using such similar language — theres a concerted effort from somewhere to implement these policies. They could also all be hiring or consulting the same policy-writing groups

or know something about changes coming to OSA (it’s been an unpopular unenforceable mess obviously lol). Although i wouldn’t be surprised if it was just straight up the investor money they’ve gotten being from conservatives/card companies,

due to the backend of bsky, how it’s structured/functions, it’s both likely difficult to enact any kind of id verification and by nature, impossible to fully block content behind idv (same reason they cannot implement private accounts), so it’s possible they’re trying to skirt as best they can,

probably the OSA and KOSA acts in the UK and EU respectively, or states like FL or TX. Easier for them to broadly apply policy that adheres to those Acts than to apply it only to users from those countries, esp when it looks like the US fed is gearing up to pass similar if not worse legislation.
