As @oavotes.bsky.social shares in their testimony in support of the Driver Privacy Act (House Bill 2332), Washington should join the growing list of states that are passing common-sense regulations for automated license plate readers (ALPRs). Our safety depends on it.

What can you do? Let lawmakers know you support common-sense regulations by signing in PRO on the Driver Privacy Act in both the House and the Senate.

Don't delay! Both bills will be heard on Tuesday, Jan 20.

The good news: There is a solution.

The Driver Privacy Act (SB 6002/HB 2332) creates needed regulations for this technology: setting limits on which agencies can use ALPRs, how long they can retain the data and who can access that data.

The unregulated use of ALPRS threaten our civil and privacy rights and puts vulnerable communities — like immigrants and those seeking gender or reproductive care in our state — at risk.

We need guardrails to protect our privacy and safety now.

Washington public agencies are increasingly using automated license plate readers (ALPRs) or "flock cameras" to track where people drive and when.

What's worse: Without regulations, ICE and Border Patrol can access the sensitive data these cameras capture on Washingtonians — and they already have.

As always, I tell you what happened, what I think it means, and why it matters — like I’ve been doing from the court for more than 15 years. www.lawdork.com/p/scotus-lik...
SCOTUS likely to allow state trans sports bans, but a changed tone could signal a narrow ruling
Although a majority appeared unlikely to strike down West Virginia and Idaho's bans, there also seemed to be interest in avoiding a final decision on constitutional questions for now.

When Planned Parenthood health centers are forced to close, patients don’t magically get care elsewhere. They lose access – full stop. Patients deserve better than deception – they deserve Planned Parenthood.

Let us be clear – when Planned Parenthood health centers close, patients lose access to real, comprehensive health care – including contraception and cancer screenings.

Most CPCs aren’t legitimate medical clinics, and use lies, shame and fear to manipulate patients at their most vulnerable moments.

This bill is an unjustifiable threat to the well-being of trans youth and their families. The Senate must reject it.
