look at these words. do these sound like the words of a sane person. this is what this website has done to me. i just have this shit on tap for whenever someone asks about the neopet that is "an orb with arms", taking up space in my brain where japanese grammar should've been. ひどいよ

reply from prettypinkpansy: I actually watched a video recently that said their original intention seems to have been to resemble beachballs, what with the bandaid over them and their round shape and capacity to bounce. As amphibious creatures that live underwater, I tend to picture them as kind of having a smooth texture with blubber underneath, kind of like a dolphin or a whale. I think "hide" is probably appropriate.

It's a little weirder when Transparent Kiko shows they very much have a fully formed tangible skull in there but TNT doesn't always go by their own past lore so yeah, it's entirely possible

#neopets is a dogshit website that forcibly makes you more autistic. sure you go in expecting fun childhood nostalgia but then 12 months later youre the world's foremost expert in kiko speculative biology. people ask you questions about it and you actually have insane prethought out answers for them

I don't want anything to be unobtainable!! I think 2-5m is a good range for pretty much every paint brush save maybe Maraquan or something fancy like that. Anyone should be able to get any brush in the game within a couple weeks. It just shouldn't be COMPLETELY trivial, you know?

Yeah like I don't want to come across like someone who thinks someone should have to spend 6 months grinding out a single brush but it feels like it kind of makes the game less fun when you can get all your goals so trivially. Some of my fondest memories are how good it felt to finally get my PBs.

This is having the ripple effect of a shitton of paint brushes cratering in price and the vast majority of them are really cheap right now, relatively speaking. Only 7 paint brushes are over 2 million. I don't want anything inaccessible but I feel like they should be slightly harder to get than this

On Neopets, Nerkmids are basically a token you use to gamble for paint brushes (the item you use to change your pet's color) and they used to be like 80-100k depending on the nerkmid (there's a few with different rarities) and now they're a fraction of the price because they adjusted the droprate.

there is no need to obscure the amount of work you put into your art unless you're trying to impress someone or you're insecure about the amount of work you put into it and either way it harms newer artists who feel like their hard work pales in comparison to the "doodles" of the artists they love.

like i've been a pixel artist for enough years that i can doodle a fullbody sprite in 15 minutes without it being that big of a deal because you do become fast at certain skills you've done a lot. but i see a lot of art that is blatantly not a doodle yet we glamorize making things seem effortless.

just saw someone post a "doodle" and it's a carefully lined and colored fullbody illustration with a bunch of postprocessing. come on man i know the term can be kind of lax sometimes but if it's really obvious you put a lot of effort into it then it's okay to just call it a drawing at that point lol
