anyone recommend any good quality resources for children to learn how to write written answers to a shortish text (e.g. 1 side of A4 text)?

Looking to supplement our whole-class reading with a sprinkle of these.

Anyone know of a site/app where you can type or write a sentence and then move round the words individually?

Really interesting new study on worked examples which underlines just how easy it is to get things wrong and end up in lethal mutation territory 🧵

Here’s 5 things I’ve learned about handwriting from writing the chapter.

🥉Handwriting isn’t prioritised that much in English schools anymore. While much of the work that is done in school is with paper and pen, as adults type day-to-day, handwriting’s not seen as important.

Thank you for a fabulous hour or so of chat about all things early years @jonhutchinson.bsky.social and @emmaturner75.bsky.social
My first episode co-hosting Mind the Gap with @emmaturner75.bsky.social

I hugely enjoyed this first conversation.

It couldn’t be a more important topic: the early years.

And we couldn’t have hoped for a better expert guest: @juliangrenier.bsky.social

Reviewing maths standardised tests - they are pretty accurate. Considering computer marked ones to lower workload but previously they've always scored lower due to thinking in their head not paper but I think this could be taught. Anyone share what they use and if + or - @michaelt1979.bsky.social

Looking at reviewing our assessments (standardised tests in Reading & Maths). Would like to move away from the reading ones whilst keeping fluency focus & teacher assessment as limited value in full tests other than to prepare for SATS style tests - @suchmo83.bsky.social would you agree?

Using Insight scatter plot to compare results of mock KS2 tests in autumn against final results to find reasonable predictor of expected standards. Here, 59/65 pupils scoring 93+ in autumn achieved EXS at end of year (73% of all pupils).

Extremely pleased to see @claresealy.bsky.social on the external teaching & learning reference group. Fills me with hope that an evidence informed approach will remain central to school development with a refined / cut down national curriculum rather than wholesale change 🤞
