With the wording of the Buffalo Bills press release today, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brandon Beane “oversee” the day to day and have someone else be the GM

Don’t know how much that would change things with Beane still there & overseeing, especially if the new GM is internal, but we’ll see
January 19, 2026 at 9:44 PM
Josh Allen checking/adjusting the play & protection on 3rd & 7 in OT. He directs Ray Davis (22) to leak out past the blitz, gets the ball out around the pressure, and Davis gets the first down

Also, great block downfield from Dalton Kincaid (86)

I would love Mike McDaniel as Buffalo Bills OC. Head coach I’m a little wary, but wouldn’t hate it. His system + run game design + Josh Allen would be beautiful
Having intrusive thoughts
January 19, 2026 at 9:29 PM
Josh Allen navigating/embracing the chaos on 3rd down in OT, and finding Dalton Kincaid (86) who does a good job working to open space
January 19, 2026 at 9:27 PM
This makes a lot of sense. The 2023 and 2024 Cardinals offenses under Drew Petzing spoke Lions/Dan Campbell football: heavier personnel, physical (and good!) run game, and a versatile Tight End Room led by a stud
The Lions are hiring former Cardinals OC Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator, per me and @tompelissero.bsky.social.

An extensive search leads Dan Campbell to an experienced play-caller for his offense.

Ironic that Ken Dorsey was fired after a loss to the Broncos and Sean McDermott was fired after a loss to the Broncos

Buffalo Bills head coach hires I would prefer (in order):

-Klint Kubiak
-Robert Saleh
-Jesse Minter
-Chris Shula
-Mike McDaniel (don’t really want as HC. Would LOVE as OC)
-Wild card: Nate Scheelhaase (him as OC to Chris Shula being HC would be sweet)

The Buffalo Bills have failed to get over the hump in the playoffs. And Sean McDermott is a large part of that. But so is Brandon Beane

McDermott going and Beane staying + getting a promotion, makes it look like the organization is laying the failures at McDermott’s feet

Whoever becomes the new head coach of the Buffalo Bills inherits a defense that is in much need of a facelift in the positional archetypes they adhere to, and some of their schematics/philosophy/identity as well
January 19, 2026 at 5:01 PM
Year after year the conversation around the Bills come playoff time (and even during the season) is always “is the roster/team around Josh Allen good enough?”

Which makes it really interesting that Brandon Beane just kind of got a promotion, while Sean McDermott got fired
Bills promote Brandon Beane to President of Football Operations as well as GM.

Through the years, the Buffalo Bills failed to tweak/update several positional archetypes defensively and also their defensive identity/philosophy. They also inked several ugly contracts + went sideways at WR. It’s interesting that of the 2 people who have a major say in all of that, only 1 is going
January 19, 2026 at 2:54 PM
This makes less sense. Especially considering the glut of roster moves in free agency and the draft that haven’t worked out. Yes, on the field hasn’t been perfect (which falls on McDermott), but Beane staying on makes it feel like all the blame is falling on McDermott and that’s not right
Bills to retain GM Brandon Beane, per Jonathan Jones.

Immediate ?’s:

-Is an outside hire the focus? Timing isn’t great considering the names already off the board. Or was this done to make Brady HC?

-Is Brandon Beane next? He bears as much responsibility as McDermott in things not working out. You could also make the case he might/should bear more
This offseason is going to be monumental in determining the direction of this franchise for a long time. They have to get this right

Also, based on how emotional Josh Allen was during the post game presser, I wonder how much he feels responsible for this (not saying he should or shouldn’t)
BREAKING: Sean McDermott is out as the Bills’ head coach, a source tells The Athletic.

Slot fade from Dalton Kincaid (86) vs man coverage for the TD. Good hand usage to keep himself clean through contact + going up a bit to get the ball. And good ball placement from Josh Allen with his LT being driven back into his lap

Really nice work here from Brandin Cooks (18)

In motion before the snap, then beats PS2 with his release and speed through the transition on his break. Also notice Josh Allen throwing with anticipation well before Cooks’ break
January 19, 2026 at 1:54 AM
Injuries have robbed NFL fans of Kyler Gordon. Good football player
January 19, 2026 at 1:39 AM
Beautiful “ice pick” from Dion Dawkins (73) + Josh Allen navigating the pocket & evading for a big gain
January 19, 2026 at 1:39 AM
Run with a pass tag/packaged play from the Bills on this TD. They run Duo, but Josh Allen has the alert to Keon Coleman (0) should it be viable. Great athleticism & effort from Keon here

The Bills have done this specific look a bunch (Duo + tag to Keon)
January 19, 2026 at 1:16 AM
Khalil Shakir (10) with the ball in his hands has been one of the best aspects of the Bills offense

Nice RPO wrinkle here too, with hitting Shakir on the seam instead of working to the bubble
January 19, 2026 at 1:08 AM
A nice addition to the Bills playbook for their opening TD, and one that Mecole Hardman is very familiar with

Cold and snowy football on a grass field is the proper playoff aesthetic
