You are going to be alive so much longer, I promise. You have your whole life to make art. And chances are whatever art you make then is gonna be way better than the stuff you make in your 20s. You aren't even fully baked yet. Relax

You aren't going to fail if you don't make a NYT bestselling novel before you're 30. No, listen to me, look in my eyes: not publishing/not having a smash hit in your 20s is normal. You aren't dead if you don't. Fucking relax

Not the fun answer, but unless you are independently wealthy or married to someone who is, there is a vanishingly small chance you can make a living wage on comics. Release yourself from that expectation and take things a little safer and slower.

Day job. Health insurance through your employer. Savings account. Do not quit whatever job you have, schedule around it.

Give yourself something to look forward to next year. Something less substantial than a resolution which can carry regret if you can't stick to it. Think of a book you want to read, a genre of music you'd like to learn more about, a curiosity to chase no matter how trivial. Keep your spark lit.

if you're an artist and you're seeing this, don't give up on your art. you create worlds and characters that didn't exist until you picked up that pencil and brought it to life. you create magic. ppl created programs to poorly emulate what you can do. don't ever forget that 🩷
