I don't know how many hours that took me...it was a lot.

But I have remade my banner! With 129 of my favourite characters! It never feels like enough...

And I'm sure I'll have revisions to be made before I know it, but that's alright, it's fun!

If you recognize all 129 DM me we'll be best friends
*My* My Dress-Up Darling MVP will go to the tiny tsundere (woah! wow!) Juju. She definitely has her own struggles, but it's sweet that she just can't say no to her little sister, even if she has to step out of her comfort zone. Miyako helping her out was a super nice scene too.
I thought Kitagawa was a much more interesting character in Season 2 btw, my criticisms with Season 1 were mostly resolved as she at least got some internal conflict to sort out.
Alright alright, it got me. Fantastic show. My Dress-Up Darling season 2 was *VERY* good.

...Evidently I need to continue the story with the manga like with Kaguya-sama. God if there's something Toradora will always have as like a MAJOR plus is it FINISHES ITS STORY IN 25 EPISODES.
I feel like I should also clarify, I don't think anything in particular requires "artistic merit" to justify its existence per se. Just for my personal taste in media, excessive fanservice isn't really something I look for. Please don't misinterpret is as a moral superiority thing 👍
(Another reason I think Season 2 has been working better for me is there's WAY less egregious fan service shots of Kitagawa. I'm not a prude or anything, but season 1 was A LOT. I actually think there's some artistic merit to some of them in so far that Gojo being flustered by her is important, but)
Also the fact that Kitagawa made Grandpa Gojo her first subject with her new 80k yen camera was like...my heart 🥺

That's so sweet 😭
It's the exact same reason why I think the latter part of Toradora is so strong too (I mean, among many things, and also all of Toradora is strong, but I digress). Giving just a tad more relevance to the side-characters helps flesh out the world, add variety, and helps the main characters too!
I still have 5 more episodes of season 2 to go so I'm speaking prematurely but WOW is season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling REALLY GOOD. Like, Season 1 had some great moments, but some valleys with those peaks. Season 2 is FANTASTIC.

IMO, the secret sauce? Side characters. Side characters add SO much.
I was fine with the chill ending and all but I *hated* that they did that "now Ishigami and Iino will do the Love is War thing" cus it doesn't line up at all with the progress they made in their relationship to that point. The *shouldn't* be where Shirogane and Kaguya were before, they're past that.
At first I thought the show was parodying Ouran, and I guess it is(?), but the character Marin is cosplaying, while looking like Tamaki and filling his place as the girl's love interest, is actually the cross-dressing host like Haruhi is in Ouran. The other girl in the in-universe anime isn't a host
Zero prizes will be rewarded for guessing my favourite Marin Kitagawa cosplay in the My Dress-Up Darling anime.
I was all aboard the Iino and Ishigami train and literally read the manga *for the express purpose of seeing if the author took that anywhere*. He...sorta did...kinda (the ending to Love is War kinda suuuuuuuuucked, 99% of the manga was good tho). I thought they were excellent characters, love them.
I have watched it and read it in full actually!

It's definitely the *funniest* RomCom I've watched (and the anime was funnier than the manga IMO). Thing with Love is War is I thought the *main* couple was just *fine*. I really wasn't that invested in them though.

I finished reading Kaguya-sama: Love is War.

Actually the first time I've read a manga series before lol. It was really good! Definitely something I think any fan of the anime should read through *for sure*, as the latter half that wasn't adapted was excellent.
The trend is supposed to be 10 games but I did a dozen because the lack of N64 would otherwise be criminal. It'd also all be RPGs...but that's pretty representative of my tastes lol
You know what was crazy about My Dress-Up Darling though (besides the sometimes egregious shots of Kitagawa) was one of the characters she (almost) cosplayed was LITERALLY Ramlethal Valentine. Complete with Guilty Gear splash. It was her Xrd outfit minus the fleshy cape. So basically no clothes lol.
I *like* Kitagawa. She was *funny* which is good in a rom *com*. But compared to my favourite romance animes like Toradora or Spice and Wolf or the romance half of Apothecary Diaries where all the main couples have something to them that causes *friction*, which is *interesting*, this doesn't.
Thing is, Kitagawa, the girl, is...perfect. Like...flawless. Which is the show's biggest flaw. She's bubbly and pretty and lives life to the beat of her own drum and accepts all of Gojo's quirks instantly and is never put off by any of his sometimes put-offish behaviour. There's no arc being written
I watched the first season of My Dress-Up Darling. It was mentioned as a RomCom where the main romance was good in the Toradora subreddit so I thought it was worth checking out. Overall I thought it was fun! The main guy, Gojo, is a unique character I've been enjoying, with a great VA performance.
She's just a baby 🥺

(She's almost 10)

She's just a baby tho 🥺

One of the most romantic concepts to come out of Spice and Wolf to me was the diary. Holo was so fearful of forgetting her time with Lawrence in millennia, he suggested she write about all of the little joys, so much that she'd forget the beginning by the time she read to the end.

The only Kirby games I had growing up were Kirby's Dream Course and Kirby's Avalanche.

I don't remember when I learned that most Kirby games are platformers but it was a foreign concept to me.

I got closer with my third Kirby game...Kirby's Canvas Curse lol.

I didn't play a main Kirby until 2018.
Ramlethal Valentine has emotional story beats and badass moments and is truly just a 10/10 character.

But it's not Ramlethal without the silly moments too. She's got her fair share of those as well.
