The GE property at 107 Park Street generates over $500,000 in property taxes annually. If a proposal to demolish many of the buildings on the historic site goes ahead, that number will likely fall, leading to higher tax bills for everyone else.

Hydro One estimates 36,000 customers remained without power in Peterborough and the surrounding area as of this morning (April 4). That's an improvement from yesterday morning, when 44,000 lacked power.

▪️ The 24/7 warming centre is moving to the McDonnel St Community Centre, effective April 4 at 9 a.m.
▪️ An emergency benefit of $75 is available to low-income residents

We've updated the "Need To Know" section of our story with the latest numbers.

Hydro One now estimates 44,000 customers lack power in the Peterborough area. That's an improvement from yesterday morning, when the number was 49,000.

That's an improvement from yesterday morning, when the utility told us 63,000 customers were without power.

There are still 63,000 people without power in Peterborough city and county, a Hydro One spokesperson told Peterborough Currents this morning.

“We’re getting tired of having no power. We’re hungry,” said one resident of a Peterborough apartment building.
