This is Latady Island(pronounced la-tarday) in the Bellingshausen Sea in Antarctica. It is 115 km long, but as far as we can see from BAS records no human being has ever landed on it.

The Emperor Penguin chick hatched on September 30, 2025, successfully transitioned to natural rearing at 21 days old on October 21.
The foster parents are a 7-year-old female and a 6-year-old male, both individuals born at Adventure World.

The last three years have all been the lowest years on record for Antarctic sea ice. Critically impacting unique Southern Ocean ecosystems which use the ice the moult breed and forage.
