Two nights of 3:45am alarms, blazing full moon lighting the sky like daytime and washing out the light of everything else, comet included. Then two days of post-processing battles, as comet processing is maddeningly tricky.

📷 This week’s image shows Typhoon #Halong, captured on 8 Oct by #Copernicus Sentinel-3 south of #Japan.

The typhoon currently has 95-knot winds (gusts up to 115), and is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the Izu Islands.

Last night, the JWST observed Uranus for calibration. Even like that the result is awesome, so here you go with my processed image of that observation! 🔭

Observation of Uranus by the JWST. The planet itself appears mostly blue, but the pole, a big patch, is white. Some storms can also be spotted near the pole. The rings of the planet can be spotted in infrared light, so they appear in that image (in orange color).
