Ben Lorenz, co-founder of the Washtenaw County-based recording studio Willis Sound, died on Saturday, December 27. Lorenz was also the drummer for Restroom Poets, October Babies, and 16 More Miles; hear a selection of his recordings with those bands.

Kyle E. Miller's "The Idiot’s Garden" is a poetic postapocalyptic novel. We spoke to the Ypsilanti-based author about his book, which takes place in a time where the oceans have boiled, whales consume power lines, & living things possess abilities beyond our world.

In Memoriam:
Scott Richardson was the singer for pioneering late '60s/early '70s Ann Arbor rockers SRC/Scot Richard Case. He passed away on Dec. 7 at his home. We revisited Richardson's fertile musical legacy, which spans bluesy garage rock to prog-leaning psychedelia.
