Escapism isn't *inherently* bad but when you're doing that *more* than you're genuinely enjoying things that's really not a place to appreciate "cheer up at least you have (thing to escape the pain of reality)"

Look I love video games but have you considered that once someone has stopped playing them for fun as much as for distraction from life's pain that's bad both for the person's overall mental health and their future enjoyment of (video game)

when they get Less. I've seen people act like this is a valid excuse rather than bigotry in and of itself. It's fucking ridiculous. There's a different between criticism and tearing someone or something down for not meeting a standard that was never promised but was assumed

I think at least some of it is the more axis of marginalization one has, the higher a pedestal people put their work on. And the pedestals are fragile and any potential imperfections can knock it all over. They don't expect that perfection from people less marginalized so they don't feel let down

Hey quick question why are spirit halloween nightlights so fucking high quality? Why is it made of METAL and GLASS and has 2 different swivels to accommodate different outlets and what direction the light is blocked from???

Why is the novelty purchase i had to justify better than the normal ones?!

I've never seen cis gay men get this specific brand of hate but there *was* a period where a bunch of people on twitter were jumping in to yell at the guy who did the Hannibal show for *checks notes* supporting problematic fan content for the show about an emotionally manipulative cannibal murderer

There was a symbol some of them mistook for a trans symbol but it was literally a thing the manufacturers stamped on there to make them identifiable (and not even trans)

Intentional representation is good, but I think I'm gonna keep pointing at the guy (who was created in part by a guy who was like why can't people just make new characters instead) who as a teen had to bind part of his body to hide who he really was and saying "accidental trans coding!"
