Assorted ducks of various kinds, from Utoro, Kushiro and the final two are from the Notsuke Peninsula. I’m quite enamored with the red breasted merganser in the last photo with its punk rock hairstyle

Maybe someday I’ll have a more suitable camera for long distance shots, but I’m proud of these. A crow, a Stellars sea eagle and then a juvenile of the same species. It was incredible

Whooper swans (I believe a family with two juveniles?) followed by swan loafs

Stopped at a nature center in rural Hokkaido, watched other tourists with a camera that presumably cost more than my car jingling a bag of snacks intentionally to get a mangy fox to come over for close up pics and selfies. You can buy expensive gear but you can’t buy class I guess

I came to the ends of the earth to see one thing, and here I am, at the edge of Utoro staring out over drift ice. A Stellars sea eagle

Made it to local Abashiri landmark, the hat shaped rock. The drift ice is pretty cool too 😝

On a train to the most northern point of Japan, I just saw my first eagle out the window. Meanwhile my husband is sending me pictures of a bucket of soap from a Royal farms that, I’d assume, you dip your hands in communally bc the dispenser is broken
