It’s not so straightforward even with cars. Suppose you increased quantity/time but did that by reducing quality such that there are more identical defects that aren’t immediately evident but will blow up years later…

Lots of private companies are relying on memory-unsafe code created by open source volunteers a long time ago. It's not getting replaced because private companies mostly don't do costly things for the common public good without making money. Governments are needed to do this.

Here's a tragedy of DOGE that most people will never know about, even though it has big consequences: no one is left to coordinate the transition to memory safe systems code. 🧵

Seems like a good day to remind everyone that Trump has sued over jokes, tweets, interviews, and news articles but not once over any of the countless accusations of child rape. — That silence says everything.

Romney was a decent guy. If gonna start taxing the rich, should start with Musk. Maybe a special tax for centibillionaires. Nationalize SpaceX for national security reasons.

This one requires three letters of recommendation for a GS-13. Don’t remember seeing that before for a GS-13. Wonder if they’re using the letters for recommendations from the “right” people. Seems this job could impact tariff policy.

I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.

We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
