Tuesday October 21 at 7pm eastern Let’s gather and engage with our questions and feelings about: sex after the death of a loved one. the disenfranchised grief of polyamorous and kinky relational loss. how pleasure and erotic energy can support our mourning. changes in desire as death approaches for ourselves or a loved one. cultural expectations of how a widow should act and our internalized stories about that. anything sex/pleasure and bereavement related. No question is too taboo. Jess will invite folks to participate in embodiment exercises, freewrite and consider the ways they want to be in relationship to their sexual expression within their (anticipatory) grief. Jess DeVries is a queer somatic sex coach and grief worker. She primarily serves the queer/trans community supporting folks in reclaiming body autonomy and to inspire curiosity about pleasure and sexual expression, guiding folks to define and pursue pleasure on their own terms. She is a grief advocate who regularly facilitates spaces for people to grieve, inviting the wisdom of the body to guide the grief process. Queer Death Salon is a community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space, with the purpose of building connection, skill, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities. Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions, stories, and complexities to share. Automatic closed captioning is enabled for the zoom session. What is the meaning of grief in the context of political identity? Who gets to grieve? When? How? Drawing from her own intersectional identity and spiritual evolution, Victoria is thrilled to guide us through an exploration of our bodies and minds as we discuss what roles we have to play in our unfolding future. Prepare to move just a bit, think critically, sow hope, and acknowledge the grief of living in this world while dreaming into the futures we desire! Victoria Rutledge is a tenured yoga teacher and certified death doula, with experience leading group processing sessions, leading workshops and retreats, and hospice volunteering. Passionate about self inquiry and creating an equitable and just world for all people, she finds purpose in creating spaces to hold the vastness of the human experience. MAiD and abortion can both be used by eugenicists, which means we have to fight the eugenicists hard while holding the line that MAiD and abortion are absolute human rights. we can't give an inch on that. human rights don't bend.
