The r-word is a demoralizing slur that should NEVER be used as an insult. Trump did it yesterday and plenty of otherwise tolerant blue accounts jumped on board using it to describe Trump instead.

I wish I could live someplace walkable and get rid of my car, but my elderly parents and in-laws are livin' la vida suburbia so here I am ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'd move to Chicago in a heartbeat but I don't want to be that far away from my folks when they will need me more as they age
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs
