Soooo. Got stuck in an elevator today. A very panic inducing 8 min. Pushed all the buttons. I learned the call button goes straight to 911. I'm a little traumatized cause being stuck in an elevator is a fear of mine.. gonna be using stairs for awhile

This... I had help doing my SciENcv and it was a nightmare and time suck. It's terrible. Don't wait till the last minute..especially if you have multiple PIs.
If you are submitting an NIH grant in February, you will be required to use SciENcv to prepare you biosketch.

IT IS MUCH WORSE THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE.

Set aside *at least* 4 hours just to transfer an existing an biosketch into SciENcv.

I can't stop thinking about lab meeting yesterday. We kicked off the year with practice @keystonesymposia.bsky.social #immunometabolism presentations. I was blown away at the stark difference between my 1st grad students very 1st poster... and this one, likely her last in my lab. I'll update

Been hearing about this study informally for awhile. So excited to read!
Finally out! We studied the retinas of the longest-living vertebrate, the Greenland shark, and found that the retinas remain remarkably healthy in animals around 150 years old. What is the mechanism? It may be a highly efficient DNA repair system. Enjoy!

First day of Winter Quarter @ucibiosci.bsky.social in the books. I get to teach both undergrad and grad #immunology this Quarter! It's a heavy lift to setup but soo excited for students to discover the magic of the immune system.

Woke up from a nightmare. Thought our -80 went down.. it heated up to 98 degrees...my students and colleagues were trying to help and it wasn't until I realized we were working with a delicase that this had to be a dream and not real... such stressful sleep

Every December we deep clean the lab. Defrost freezers and do inventory. I'm proud of our -20. Replanned the space and its so much better. Keeping cold storage functional is work but Hella worth it @cterminiphd.bsky.social gets it 😉

I love how an editor will desk reject your paper then ask you to review a paper similar in scope the following week. #fml #newPI #publishing #struggles

If you’re going to be at #ABRCMS, there are a few opportunities to hear from my lab. Nicole is currently applying to graduate school and Lesley is applying to medical school, and both have been EXCELLENT additions to my lab. Come hear about their work! 👇🏾

The early grad school letter of rec deadlines are stupid and unnecessary. It complicates an already complicated process. I have over 100 submission links in my inbox..not all of them have deadlines in the email ...and I have to figure out the handful that are due early. #annoyed
