I've posted many times about how productive I am on planes. It's confirmation that I need to schedule more quiet time to just think. That's what a plane is for me. Forced time with my thoughts... no distractions.

In the midst of challenges im deciding to take care of myself. I have 1 yr until I put in my tenure file and I'm not planning to be burnt out crossing that finish line.

Today I'm going home and I left my laptop locked away at lab. I think I can make this a rule.. not exception

We were just quoted a tariff surcharge on a service contract. Like wtf. The surcharge on everything else has made already expensive research reagents almost doubled the cost. What are we doing?

This is not some small foundation -- HHMI has a $24 billion endowment. It is the world's 2nd richest biomedical research foundation.

If any funder can double down on their support for science right now, it's HHMI. But they are doing the opposite.
